"Aurore’s Diary"
Fiction 104 X 5 minutes adapted from the books by Marie Desplechin (published by L’Ecole des Loisirs)
Directed by Jean-Bernard Andro
Adaptation Catherine Taillefer
Les Films de l'Arlequin
No more paper diaries, hurrah for the online diaries!
When she decides to write her diary, Aurore is about fourteen years old, she’s in ninth grade, and she's going to repeat it.
She attends a public junior high school, contrary to her friend Lola who goes to a private school. At 17, she no longer feels the need to write.
« Never Happy », « Always Angry » or « Rien ne va plus » : as the subtitles of the books clearly show, Aurore is a teenage girl who rebels against everything.
Against her family - she feels completely different from her parents, her two sisters, her grandparents...
Against her school - maths in particular...
Against her physical appearance - her pimples, her big feet, her stringy hair...
Against her time - Television, the weather forecast, the most popular books and movies...
Against her female friends - sometimes even her closest friends, like Lola or Samira...
Against Love - which she hasn’t found yet...
But Aurore can be affectionate and show a strong sense of humour too!
She’s grumpy but she can admit her wrongdoings, mistakes and excesses. As time goes by, she changes, becomes more mature and discovers people’s positive and enriching side.
